I just had to add a small thing, and then I hope I will manage to leave this hos sordid topic. One of the larger newspapers in Sweden today published this piece of news:
(Niinistö less powerful than Halonen)
It is an article about how the freshly installed President of Finland, Sauli Niinistö, will have less power than his predecessor, Tarja Halonen. The reduction in power has to do with his ability to appoint people to various positions, foreign policy, and the EU.
But hang on!
Aren’t we told by monarchists that having a president of Sweden instead of a king will INEVITABLY lead to Lars Ohly being Dictator-for-Life?
Is Tarja halonen dead?
Well, the homepage of the President of the Republic of Finland seem to indicate no such thing, and neither does Wikipedia (which may or may not be trusted in these or any other matters). Of course, she doesn’t need to be dead just to hand over her Iron Fists to a chosen successor. Lots of dictators have stepped down and handed power to a colleague of their choice, such as Fidel Castro. But he was old and sickly, whereas Tarja Halonen looks as healthy and strangely cute as she always has on these pictures taken today when she handed over the total control of the minds and souls of her Finnish thralls to her successor-elect.
Who happens to be from a totally different political party than Halonen, and is even on a different part of the political spectrum. But I guess it is common for dictators-for-life to voluntarily give absolute power to their political opponents all the time. And look, in this other article, he is both praising the communistic practices of the Nordic countries of not placing the care of the elderly in the hands of pirates, sociopaths and idiots, and doing the famous Hitler-salute! Clearly, he is one of those Nazi-Fasci-Communi-Soci-Anarcho-dictators that always seem to crop up when you change your head of state from the quickest sperm to the person who can get the most votes.
But there is still something bugging me about this. I can accept the royalist view that obviously Tarja Halonen and Sauli Niinistö are just part of the same dictatorial junta that have ruled Finland since they revolted against their betters and opted for the typically communist doctrine of choice rather than the more civilized capitalist option of having no choice or say in the matter whatsoever. Obviously, with all the medals and order and stuff the two of them are wearing in the pictures above, any pretense of the Republic of Finland not being run by a posse of soldiers can be instantly dismissed as childishly naïve.
And, of course, the first thing any dictator-for-life who elects to step down before she actually dies would do, is to make sure that her successor gets all the same unlimited power she g– OH MY GOD! I just figured out what it was that I found so strange about the whole affair! It is precisely this:
I samband med skiftet inskränks presidentens makt. (In connection with this succession, the preident’s powers are decreased)
Hang on. That means that Sauli Niinistä will NOT have the same boundless, complete control over every aspect of the lives of the Finnish people. Instead of stampeding across their rights in the blood-red iron-clad boots of power that Tarja Halonen used, he will have to be satisfied with some sort of pinkish copper sneakers or something. I don’t know what they wear in Finland.
This must be such a joyous day for Finland! Finally, they can get rid of the immense thought-control of Tarja Halonen and perhaps even start rising on the list of least corrupt countries in the world, perhaps even overtaking New Zealand and Denmark, which are the only two countries less corrupt than Finland. If this gradual reduction in the dictatorial powers of the Presidents of Finland continues, they could finally become a free country, just like the rest of Europe! maybe even start getting into the green on the Democracy Index!
So yes, in summary I have problems understanding how royalists can logically assemble the argument that changing from the current sperm-based system for determining head of state to one where post-zygotic ability is actually taken into account, will instantly result in us getting either Lars Ohly or a Moslem for Dictator-for-Life, considering that of the top-50 nations on the Democracy Index list, 38 are NOT monarchies, and in NONE of the others does the monarch actually have any meaningful power. But then again, royalists are morons. They don’t do logic.
